Amazon is moving Luna closer to the center of its entertainment ecosystem. Starting July 23, 2026, the company is rolling out a new Games tab inside the Prime Video app on Fire TV devices in the UK, giving Prime members a direct route into Luna’s cloud gaming library without requiring a separate app.

That may sound like a minor interface change, but it addresses one of Luna’s biggest practical problems: discovery. Amazon Prime subscribers can already access a rotating selection of Luna games through their membership, yet many may never have realized the service was included. By placing games alongside movies, television and sports, Amazon is betting that more users will stumble into Luna simply because it is now part of the app they already open regularly.

Prime Video becomes Luna’s new front door

The new integration is straightforward. Fire TV users in the UK will see a Games tab within Prime Video, where they can browse the available selection and start streaming a game directly. There is no need to download the standalone Luna app first, at least on supported Fire TV devices included in the initial rollout.

Amazon says games can be played with a compatible controller or a smartphone. That flexibility is important because Luna is attempting to reach more than traditional console players. A dedicated gamepad remains the obvious choice for larger action games, but phone-based controls make the service more approachable for families and casual players who may not own gaming hardware.

The rollout is currently limited to Fire TV in the UK, with Amazon planning to expand the integration to additional devices and countries in the coming months. The company has not provided a detailed schedule for those wider launches, so the immediate impact will depend heavily on how quickly the Games tab reaches other Prime Video platforms.

A surprisingly broad rotating lineup

Luna’s Prime offering is built around a rotating library rather than a permanent catalog. The current selection includes major releases such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, Alan Wake 2 and Dispatch, alongside free-to-play staples such as Fortnite.

The lineup also reaches into older and more family-friendly territory with LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. That mixture gives Luna a wider appeal than a service focused exclusively on blockbuster games, although the rotating structure means availability will remain an important consideration for anyone planning to use it as a primary gaming platform.

For players who want something lighter, Luna also offers Game Night, a collection of multiplayer games designed for groups in the same room. The selection includes The Jackbox Party Pack 8, The Game of Life 2, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Tetris Effect: Connected and Cluedo.

Game Night is arguably the clearest match for Prime Video’s living-room audience. Players can use their phones as controllers, lowering the barrier to entry for family gatherings or casual multiplayer sessions. It is a different proposition from streaming a technically demanding single-player adventure, but one that fits naturally with the way people already use a television-based entertainment app.

Amazon is selling convenience as much as games

Amazon’s message is less about changing how Luna works and more about making it easier to begin. Jeff Gattis, Amazon’s general manager of gaming, said the company believes games have been unnecessarily difficult for some Prime members to find. The Prime Video integration is intended to reduce the number of steps between discovering a title and playing it.

That approach reflects a broader challenge facing cloud gaming. Streaming removes the need for downloads, installations and expensive hardware, but it does not automatically solve the problem of getting users to care about a service. A hidden app with a rotating catalog can be technically capable and still struggle to become part of a household’s routine.

Prime Video gives Luna a substantial advantage in that regard. Instead of asking customers to remember another brand, Amazon can put games in front of people while they are already browsing entertainment. The move also makes Luna feel less like an isolated experiment and more like another layer of the Prime subscription.

The biggest question is still performance

The integration should make Luna easier to find, but it will not remove the technical demands of game streaming. Players still need a reliable internet connection, a supported Fire TV device and controls that feel responsive enough for the type of game being played.

Amazon’s cloud infrastructure is designed to deliver streamed gameplay across devices, and its Fire TV platform already promotes Luna as a way to play without a console or gaming PC. Even so, the quality of the experience will vary depending on network conditions, display hardware and controller input. A turn-based game or party title is likely to be more forgiving than a fast-paced action game where latency can immediately affect play.

That distinction may shape which games benefit most from the Prime Video launch. Big releases such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Alan Wake 2 are useful showcases for Luna’s ambitions, while Game Night could prove more effective at converting curious Prime members into regular users. The former demonstrates what the service can stream; the latter makes it easy to invite other people to play.

A smart visibility boost, but not a complete platform strategy

For Amazon, this is a sensible and relatively low-risk change. Luna gains a much more prominent storefront, Prime members get another benefit from a subscription they may already have, and Fire TV becomes a more convincing all-in-one entertainment device.

Whether that translates into sustained engagement will depend on the library, the consistency of the rotation and the quality of streaming across different households. A Games tab can solve the problem of being overlooked, but it cannot by itself guarantee that players will return after sampling a few titles.

Still, integrating Luna into Prime Video is arguably the most natural way Amazon has presented the service so far. The company is no longer asking users to think of cloud gaming as a separate destination. For UK Fire TV owners, games are now positioned alongside the shows and films they already watch—and that may be exactly the visibility boost Luna has needed.
