AVIOT is bringing EVANGELION into the wireless-audio space with the TE-V1R-EVA, a premium pair of true wireless earbuds created for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. More than a character-themed redesign, the collaboration adds newly recorded character voices, a fresh Rei and Asuka illustration, and sound tuning supervised by Yoko Takahashi.
Built on AVIOT’s TE-V1R model, the special edition combines practical high-end audio features with details aimed squarely at longtime EVANGELION fans. The ¥22,880 earbuds launched in Japan with pre-orders beginning October 29, 2025, the same day Takahashi’s anniversary album EVANGELION FLASHBACK was released.
The TE-V1R-EVA uses a white-and-silver color scheme, with the Spears of Longinus and Cassius incorporated into the earbuds. The charging case features a logo inspired by Evangelion Unit-01, while the packaging includes an original illustration of Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley wearing the earbuds in their plug suits.
Nine character modes and more than 160 voice lines
The bigger surprise is hidden in the earbuds’ voice functions. The TE-V1R-EVA includes more than 160 newly recorded lines covering startup, shutdown, device connections, and other notifications. A separate “random voice” mode plays memorable lines associated with the series.
Users can switch between nine character voice modes through AVIOT’s dedicated app. The available options are Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami, Asuka Shikinami Langley, Mari Makinami Illustrious, Misato Katsuragi, Ritsuko Akagi, Kaworu Nagisa, Gendo Ikari, and Ryoji Kaji.
That setup gives the collaboration more personality than a standard logo-and-color merchandise release. Depending on the selected mode, routine actions such as powering on the earbuds or connecting them to a device can become another small EVANGELION moment.
Sound tuning shaped by Yoko Takahashi
AVIOT also worked with Yoko Takahashi, whose voice is closely associated with EVANGELION through “The Cruel Angel’s Thesis” and “Soul’s Refrain.” Her tuning approach focused on keeping vocals clear and bright while giving the low end enough weight to convey the scale and drama of the music.
For “The Cruel Angel’s Thesis,” Takahashi highlighted the importance of the song’s opening vocal and the feeling of distance around it. “Soul’s Refrain,” meanwhile, called for a wider and deeper presentation to match its pronounced dynamics and majestic arrangement.
The result, according to Takahashi’s comments about the project, was intended to balance powerful bass with open, youthful-sounding vocals. That makes the earbuds particularly suited to listeners who want to revisit the franchise’s music, but the tuning is not limited to EVANGELION tracks.
Takahashi’s anniversary album EVANGELION FLASHBACK collects songs including “The Cruel Angel’s Thesis,” “FLY ME TO THE MOON 2020,” “Soul’s Refrain,” “TENSIONS – welcome to the stage,” and “Final Call.” The album also includes a newly recorded cover of “Today, This Day Is Goodbye,” adding another piece of 30th-anniversary context to the earbud release.
What the TE-V1R brings to the collaboration
As the base model, the TE-V1R offers up to 19 hours of playback from the earbuds and up to 62 hours when combined with the charging case. It supports Adaptive Hybrid Noise Canceling, which automatically adjusts noise reduction according to the surrounding environment, along with LDAC high-resolution wireless playback and wireless charging.
The audio system uses a 10mm dynamic driver and a balanced armature driver in each earbud. Other specifications include Bluetooth 5.3, AAC, SBC, and LDAC codec support, multipoint connectivity for two devices, fast charging, single-ear use, and IPX4-equivalent water resistance for the earbuds themselves.
AVIOT’s app also supports a 10-band equalizer, ambient-sound controls, and an earbud-finding feature. The earbuds weigh approximately 6.5 grams each, and the package includes S, M, and L silicone earpieces, a USB Type-C cable, and a user manual.
The timing places the product within a larger anniversary campaign for the franchise. Official plans for the 30th-anniversary celebration included the three-day EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION event at Yokohama Arena from February 21 to February 23, 2026, alongside other music, exhibition, and screening projects.
For collectors, the packaging and character voices may be the main draw. For music fans, Takahashi’s involvement gives the TE-V1R-EVA a more specific connection to the series’ soundscape. The product page and official store remain the places to watch for order and shipment details, especially for fans outside Japan looking for confirmed purchasing options.
