July 2026 Unboxing Part Two Finally Arrives With a Name Correction

The second installment of the July 2026 unboxing series is finally here, arriving with both an apology for the delay and a correction for eagle-eyed manga fans. The update sets the record straight on one creator identification: the name previously given as Yoshihisa Tagami should have been Kaoru Shintani.

The post keeps the explanation refreshingly simple. The follow-up video was overdue, and the mistaken credit came from an off-the-cuff slip rather than a deliberate change to the unboxing’s contents. For longtime collectors, that distinction matters—especially when the names involved belong to two important figures from Japan’s classic manga and anime culture.

A straightforward correction for manga fans

Kaoru Shintani and Yoshihisa Tagami are both associated with distinctive works from the 1980s, but they are not interchangeable names. Shintani is best known internationally for Area 88, the military aviation manga that later inspired animated adaptations. Tagami, meanwhile, created the science-fiction manga Grey, which was adapted into the animated feature Grey: Digital Target.

That shared connection to older genre manga helps explain how a quick verbal mix-up might happen, particularly in an informal video or presentation covering a large number of collectibles. Still, the correction is useful for anyone cataloging the items shown, researching their creators, or comparing the unboxing with older Japanese releases.

Why the names carry weight

Shintani’s Area 88 remains one of the better-known examples of aviation-focused manga, combining dramatic combat missions with the dangers and pressures surrounding mercenary pilots. The series was serialized from 1979 to 1986 and became familiar to anime viewers through its original video animation series as well as a later television adaptation.

Tagami’s Grey occupies a very different corner of the medium. Its dystopian science-fiction setting and stark visual identity made it a notable title among the era’s darker speculative works, while Grey: Digital Target gave the property a life beyond the printed page. Both creators have therefore become useful reference points for fans exploring the period when manga, direct-to-video animation, and imported releases were increasingly crossing paths.

The correction also underlines an important part of unboxing culture: identifying the artist, publisher, edition, and original release can be just as interesting as opening the package itself. A small naming error can send collectors toward the wrong bibliography or make an item appear connected to a different franchise than it really is.

What to watch for in the follow-up

For now, the confirmed news is limited but clear: this is the second video, it arrived later than intended, and the creator attribution has been corrected from Yoshihisa Tagami to Kaoru Shintani. The post does not add a larger announcement or suggest a new project from either manga artist.

That makes the video worth approaching as a continuation of the unboxing rather than as a franchise reveal. The key detail for viewers is the corrected name, particularly if the items shown connect to Shintani’s work or to the broader wave of classic manga and anime releases that introduced titles such as Area 88 to audiences outside Japan.

Collectors should keep an eye on any later follow-up that clarifies the individual items featured in the second video. Until then, the takeaway is pleasantly uncomplicated: the overdue installment is available, and the Kaoru Shintani credit is the one to remember.
