International fans were given a limited-time chance to buy official merchandise from The Exhibition of The World of Shirow Masamune, the major showcase dedicated to the creator of THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, Appleseed, Dominion, and other influential manga. The overseas sales period ran from May 2 through May 31, 2026, through ONLINE PARCO with international purchasing supported by Buyee.
That window has now closed, meaning shoppers looking for the exhibition goods will need to keep an eye on the official channels for any restocks, relisted items, or additional sales tied to the exhibition’s next stop. The original announcement warned that individual products and sizes would end once inventory was exhausted, so availability was never guaranteed throughout the sales period.
For longtime Shirow Masamune fans, the release was notable because many of the products had previously been sold only at exhibition venues in Japan. The international lineup focused on wearable and display-friendly items featuring the artist’s distinctive artwork, including T-shirts, sacoche-style bags, playing cards, and acrylic standees.
What was included in the international lineup?
The apparel selection was the main attraction, with T-shirts priced at approximately ¥5,500 each. Depending on exchange rates, that worked out to around £26, $35, or €30. Designs drew from memorable cover art and imagery associated with THE GHOST IN THE SHELL and Appleseed, bringing Masamune’s densely detailed cyberpunk aesthetic into an everyday fashion format.
The wider range also included goods suited to collectors who prefer smaller pieces. Acrylic standees offered character-focused display items, while the playing cards and sacoche bags expanded the selection beyond standard apparel. The products were presented as exhibition merchandise rather than a new general retail line, making the limited sales period especially important for collectors.
Purchases were handled through Buyee’s proxy-shopping integration. International customers were directed to the ONLINE PARCO product page, where a Buyee banner and linked cart allowed them to add items, enter the proxy service’s checkout flow, and complete the order. As with many Japan-exclusive releases, shipping costs, service fees, stock levels, and available sizes were handled through the purchasing process rather than included in the listed item price.
A timely release for a major Ghost in the Shell year
The merchandise campaign arrived during a particularly significant year for Masamune’s best-known creation. The original THE GHOST IN THE SHELL manga began serialization in 1989, and the franchise has since expanded into films, television anime, games, and live-action adaptations.
The newest TV anime, also titled THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, premiered in Japan on July 7, 2026. The series is being produced by Science SARU, with Mokochan directing, EnJoe Toh handling the script, and Shuhei Handa serving as character designer and executive animation director. Taisei Iwasaki is credited as music director and composer, alongside music by Ryo Konishi and YUKI KANESAKA.
The timing helped connect the exhibition’s focus on Masamune’s original artwork with a new animated interpretation of the property. However, the exhibition merchandise itself is centered on the artist’s manga work and the exhibition presentation, rather than being described as merchandise for the 2026 TV anime.
The exhibition continues in Nagoya
The touring exhibition is scheduled to continue at Matsuzakaya Hall in Nagoya from August 2 through August 16, 2026. The Nagoya presentation is being planned and produced by Kodansha and PARCO, with cooperation from SEISHINSHA and the Setagaya Literary Museum, and special cooperation from Shirow Masamune.
The official exhibition information also indicates that the Nagoya stop will include high-definition reproduction artwork and additional new products. That makes the upcoming venue worth keeping an eye on, particularly for collectors who missed the international online window or were unable to attend earlier stops in person.
For now, fans outside Japan should treat the May international campaign as finished rather than assuming the merchandise remains available. The best next step is to monitor the exhibition’s official website and social media accounts, along with ONLINE PARCO, for any further international listings or post-exhibition stock updates.
