Kyoko Hikawa’s beloved fantasy manga From Far Away is finally heading to television, and a new trailer gives fans their clearest look yet at the long-awaited adaptation. Released ahead of the anime’s October 4, 2026 debut, the video previews Noriko and Izark’s dangerous journey while revealing the opening and ending theme songs, four additional cast members, and a new key visual.

The trailer introduces “Tokoko,” performed by GNJB, as the opening theme. The group previously performed the opening for Iron Wok Jan. Nanashi no Taro will provide the ending theme, “Hikari no Soba de,” giving the series two newly announced musical anchors for its sweeping fantasy adventure.

For longtime readers, the bigger surprise is simply seeing Hikawa’s completed story receive its first television anime adaptation more than two decades after the manga ended. The project is being produced for the 35th anniversary of the manga’s debut, with Hikawa supervising the adaptation in full.

A new trailer sets the stage for Noriko and Izark’s journey

From Far Away follows Noriko, an ordinary schoolgirl who is suddenly pulled into an unfamiliar fantasy world. After arriving in this strange and hostile land, she is rescued by Izark, a capable young man whose guarded nature hides a terrifying secret.

The pair soon become connected by an ancient prophecy. Noriko possesses a power that could unleash the darkest evil within Izark, forcing the unlikely companions to travel together as they confront the dangers surrounding them. That combination of otherworldly adventure, romance, prophecy, and looming destruction has helped the manga remain a notable title among classic shōjo fantasy works.

The newly announced voice cast expands the story’s ensemble beyond the two leads. Tomoyo Kurosawa voices Noriko, while Kentaro Kumagai plays Izark. Yuichiro Umehara is Rachef, and Eiji Takeuchi is Keimos. The additional cast includes Kimiko Saito as Gaya, Tadashi Miyazawa as Gorya, Taisuke Nakano as Agol, and Miku Ito as Geena.

Studio DEEN leads the adaptation

Noriyuki Abe directs the anime at Studio DEEN. Abe’s previous credits include The Heroic Legend of Arslan, bringing an experienced hand in large-scale fantasy storytelling to Hikawa’s world.

Rika Takasugi is handling series composition, following her work on Ōoku: The Inner Chambers. Eiji Abiko is designing the characters, with Even a Replica Can Fall in Love among the projects associated with the artist. Takeshi Hama is composing the music after contributing to Champignon Witch.

The staff lineup suggests that the production is placing equal weight on its adventure elements and its character-driven drama. That balance will be important for a story built around Noriko and Izark’s developing relationship as much as its larger supernatural conflict.

Why the anime matters to manga readers

Hikawa’s From Far Away ran from September 1991 through October 2002 and was collected in 14 volumes. The manga has more than 4 million copies in circulation and is available in an official English edition from VIZ Media.

VIZ’s synopsis emphasizes the central tension: Izark is brave and courageous, but carries an evil presence within him, while Noriko may hold the power needed to awaken it. Their relationship begins with survival in an unknown world, then gradually becomes the emotional center of the story.

The anime is also notable because it arrives as a full adaptation of a finished manga rather than an ongoing serialization. That gives the production a complete narrative to draw from, while Hikawa’s direct supervision offers an additional connection to the original work.

From Far Away is scheduled to begin its television broadcast on October 4, 2026. The new trailer and key visual should give viewers a better sense of how Studio DEEN is translating Hikawa’s classic fantasy setting to animation, while the confirmed theme songs add another piece to the series’ identity. The next major detail worth keeping an eye on is how the anime handles Noriko and Izark’s gradual bond—and the prophecy threatening to tear their world apart.
