Webtoon, Warner Bros. Animation Unveil 10-Series Slate of Animated Adaptations

WEBTOON Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation are building a ten-project animated slate based on webcomics from WEBTOON’s Korean and English-language platforms. The first four titles announced in November 2025—The Stellar Swordmaster, Hardcore Leveling Warrior, Down to Earth, and Elf & Warrior—cover a striking range of action, fantasy, romance, comedy, and adventure.

The partnership matters because it treats webtoons not simply as storyboards for future adaptations, but as a broad source of animation-ready worlds with established visual identities and serialized fanbases. No release dates, platforms, casts, or episode orders have been announced, so these projects remain in development rather than being confirmed upcoming series.

A ten-project deal with eight publicly named titles

The companies said they intend to co-produce ten animated projects for global distribution. WEBTOON’s US-based WEBTOON Productions and its Japanese intellectual-property teams are expected to support development, while Warner Bros. Animation brings its experience producing animated projects for domestic and international audiences.

In May 2026, the companies announced four additional titles joining the development slate: The Wolf & Red Riding Hood by XUANN, Vampire Family by unfins, Sable Curse by Little Melon, and Snow and Briar (And The Mirror of Seven Sins) by M. Nires. With the original four selections included, eight titles have now been publicly identified, leaving two projects undisclosed.

That expanding list also makes the strategy easier to understand. Rather than concentrating on one dominant webtoon category, WEBTOON and Warner Bros. Animation are drawing from several corners of the platform, including romance, fantasy, action, comedy, supernatural drama, and darker fairy-tale storytelling.

The Stellar Swordmaster brings brutal fantasy to the slate

Created by Hong Dae Ui, juno, and Q10, The Stellar Swordmaster follows Vlad, a streetwise orphan living in Schoarra, a prosperous trading town controlled from the shadows by five crime bosses. After the brothel where he works is destroyed by a disgraced knight, Vlad turns toward swordsmanship and begins pursuing the power needed to survive.

The WEBTOON series identifies Hong Dae Ui as the adapter and storyboard artist, juno as the artist, and Q10 as the creator of the original work. Its official genre labels include action, high fantasy, and magical storytelling, placing it firmly in the tradition of ambitious progression-fantasy webtoons while giving its hero a particularly grim starting point.

Editorially, the series appears well suited to animation because its premise combines a sharply defined urban underworld with a larger heroic journey. The contrast between Schoarra’s wealth and its lawless slums gives the story an immediate visual framework, while Vlad’s sentient sword offers an obvious way to externalize his growth, doubts, and developing relationship with power.

Hardcore Leveling Warrior offers a game-world comeback story

Sehoon Kim’s Hardcore Leveling Warrior centers on Ethan, the top player in the enormously popular game Lucid Adventure. After a mysterious player kills him and resets his character to level one, Ethan must rebuild his reputation while dealing with former rivals, unexpected allies, hidden forces, and the darker parts of his own past.

The original WEBTOON series is complete, and its central hook remains one of the clearest adaptation pitches in the group: a powerful avatar forced to begin again at the bottom. That structure naturally supports action set pieces, escalating abilities, game-system visuals, and a strong episodic rhythm.

For animation, the challenge will be preserving the series’ game-like logic without making every conflict feel like a menu screen or statistics display. The most promising material is likely to come from the tension between Ethan’s arrogant public persona and the personal history gradually revealed beneath it. The reset is not only a power-loss premise; it is also a chance to rethink what made him worthy of being number one in the first place.

Down to Earth shifts the focus to romance and character chemistry

Pookie Senpai’s Down to Earth follows Kade, whose isolated, ordinary life changes when a cute alien girl crashes into his backyard. By allowing her into his home, Kade may also be opening himself up emotionally in ways he has long avoided.

WEBTOON classifies the series as romance and describes it with tags including romantasy, friends-to-lovers, and slow-burn romance. Unlike the power-driven premises of the action titles, Down to Earth depends primarily on domestic proximity, gradual trust, and the awkward comedy of two people trying to understand one another across very different backgrounds.

That makes it an especially interesting choice for the partnership. The vertical-scroll format can linger on reaction shots, pauses, visual gags, and small shifts in body language—elements that are essential to a slow-burn relationship. An animated adaptation would need to preserve that patience rather than rushing the relationship toward conventional science-fiction spectacle.

The series is also still active on WEBTOON, with its third season premiering in July 2026. Any adaptation will therefore need to decide how much of the ongoing story to cover and whether to build a self-contained opening arc or plan for a longer serialized structure.

Elf & Warrior adds comedy to the fantasy mix

Written by AC Stuart and illustrated by Victor Rosas II, Elf & Warrior follows Basri, a young and optimistic elf, and his uncle Hector, a reformed—or “sort of” reformed—criminal. Together, they travel through a fantasy world filled with strange monsters, magic, and morally complicated adventures.

The WEBTOON series is complete, with its finale published in May 2022. Its official categories include comedy, dungeon adventure, and magical storytelling, making it the most overtly comedic selection among the first four announced projects.

That tonal variety could be one of the slate’s biggest strengths. A fantasy adaptation does not have to choose between grand quests and irreverent character humor, and Basri and Hector’s relationship offers a built-in source of friction, affection, and questionable decision-making. The central question is not simply whether Basri can become a hero, but what “hero” means when the people guiding him are outlaws and miscreants.

What webtoon readers should watch next

For now, the Warner Bros. Animation partnership is best understood as a development announcement, not a release calendar. There are no confirmed premiere dates, animation formats, staff lineups, voice casts, or distribution homes for the projects named so far.

Still, the selection itself is revealing. The Stellar Swordmaster and Hardcore Leveling Warrior offer action-driven worlds with strong visual hooks; Down to Earth provides a relationship-centered counterpoint; and Elf & Warrior brings fantasy comedy and a completed story to the mix. The four later additions broaden the slate even further, suggesting that the companies are testing how many different kinds of webtoon storytelling can translate into animation.

The key creative issue will be adaptation rather than simple conversion. Webtoons control timing through scrolling, episode breaks, vertical reveals, and carefully placed pauses. If these projects retain that sense of rhythm while taking advantage of animation’s movement, sound, and performance, the partnership could become a meaningful bridge between digital comics and mainstream animation. If not, the original series will remain the definitive versions of these stories—and the ones readers return to while waiting for more concrete news.
