Black Cat #14 Preview: Felicia Hardy, Space Cat Burglar Supreme

Marvel’s Black Cat #14 sends Felicia Hardy far beyond her usual New York hunting grounds, as the master thief takes on a cosmic assignment with potentially massive consequences. Written by G. Willow Wilson and illustrated by Gleb Melnikov, the September 9, 2026 issue places Black Cat aboard a spaceship and tasks her with stealing an object that could help turn the tide against the combined threat of Knull and the Queen in Black.

For readers following Marvel’s current Black Cat series, the issue represents another sharp expansion of Felicia’s role. She may be one of the Marvel Universe’s most accomplished burglars, but interstellar navigation, alien technology, and symbiote-fueled warfare are well outside her traditional comfort zone.

Felicia Hardy’s Biggest Heist Yet

The central hook of Black Cat #14 is simple enough: Felicia has to steal something crucial before a cosmic conflict spirals even further out of control. The complication is that this is not a rooftop burglary or an infiltration of a heavily guarded Manhattan penthouse. The preview pages place Black Cat in outer space, apparently attempting to pilot a ship while surrounded by tangled, red symbiote-like material.

Felicia’s own apparent lack of piloting experience adds an appropriately chaotic edge to the mission. The preview’s “MAYDAY” exchange suggests that the heist will not proceed according to plan, although that is hardly unusual for Black Cat. Her talent has always depended on nerve, improvisation, and the ability to turn a disastrous situation into one more opportunity.

The issue’s solicitation material also points to the theft of Kree seeds, connecting Felicia’s mission to the larger struggle involving the Kree Supreme Intelligence and the symbiote forces aligned with Knull and the Queen in Black. That places a street-level thief in the middle of a conflict involving some of Marvel’s most dangerous cosmic concepts.

A Cosmic Detour for Marvel’s Master Thief

One of the most appealing aspects of this premise is the contrast between Felicia’s skill set and the scale of the assignment. Black Cat is not being presented as a cosmic powerhouse who can simply overpower an alien army. She is being asked to do what she does best: get into places she should not be able to reach, take something guarded by overwhelming forces, and escape before the consequences catch up with her.

That approach preserves the character’s identity even as the setting becomes increasingly extravagant. The spaceships and symbiote threats may be larger than life, but Felicia’s advantage remains her confidence, cunning, and willingness to gamble. Her attitude toward the mission, including a quip comparing it favorably to battling giant masses of sentient material in Manhattan, reinforces the series’ balance of danger and comedy.

The story also continues the current series’ broader interest in Felicia as a figure caught between criminal instincts and heroic responsibility. Marvel’s present Black Cat ongoing began with Felicia navigating a new phase in her life after the events surrounding The Amazing Spider-Man. Wilson’s run has increasingly treated her as someone capable of helping others without sanding away the selfishness, bravado, and thrill-seeking that make her distinctive.

Wilson and Melnikov Take Black Cat into the Stars

G. Willow Wilson’s script has been praised in early reviews of the series for giving Felicia a strong voice built around humor, emotional intelligence, and complicated motives. Reviews of earlier issues have also highlighted the way the book allows her confidence and uncertainty to exist at the same time. That combination should serve the space-heist premise well, particularly when Felicia is placed in situations where charm alone may not be enough.

Gleb Melnikov’s artwork has similarly been recognized for its expressive character work and energetic action. His approach gives the series a heightened, animated quality, making it well suited to both acrobatic crime sequences and more unusual Marvel environments. The preview pages suggest that Black Cat #14 will give him plenty of opportunity to draw frantic cockpit action, alien technology, symbiote chaos, and Felicia’s distinctive blend of style and panic.

Josemaria Casanovas provides the main cover, while Marvel is also offering variant covers by Leirix, Jonas Scharf, and Gerardo Sandoval. For collectors, the issue’s cosmic setting and expanded variant lineup make it a notable entry in the current run, especially for fans who enjoy collecting different interpretations of Felicia’s costume and larger-than-life poses.

Release Details and Reader Appeal

Black Cat #14 is scheduled to arrive from Marvel Comics on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The issue is rated T+, listed at $4.99, and features 32 pages. It is part of the ongoing Black Cat series launched in 2025 by Wilson and Melnikov.

Readers can approach the issue as a continuation of the current storyline, but the basic premise is immediately accessible: Felicia Hardy must steal a vital object in space while helping prevent a devastating cosmic alliance. Longtime Marvel readers will find connections to the Knull-era symbiote mythology and the Kree’s cosmic infrastructure, while newer readers can enjoy the straightforward appeal of watching an impossibly confident cat burglar attempt to survive a mission she may not be qualified to fly.

The real question is not whether Black Cat can pull off the theft. Felicia has built an entire career on impossible jobs. The question is whether she can make it back from space before the Marvel Universe’s latest crisis catches up with her.
