The upcoming Cheat Fuyo anime has unveiled a substantial batch of production staff alongside its second teaser promotional video. Based on Asa Rokushima’s fantasy adventure manga, the series is set to begin airing on TV Tokyo in October 2026, with P.A. Works leading the animation production.
The new announcement fills in many of the behind-the-scenes roles responsible for bringing the series’ magic, monsters, action, and fantasy setting to the screen. The second teaser offers another early look at the adaptation, although detailed information about its footage has not been disclosed.
A deep production team joins the project
Noboru Sugimitsu, known for work on Charlotte, is serving as monster designer and action animation director. Kayoko Nabeta, whose credits include Towa no Yuugure, is handling main animation, while Hiromi Makino (Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi) is designing the props.
The visual side of the production also includes color designer Kazu Doi (Kaizoku Oujo), art director Youko Kamiyama (Fruits Basket), and art designer Risa Iwatsuki, whose past work includes the television version of Ghost in the Shell. Masahiro Murakami (Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara) and Sumie Murakami (Fujimoto Tatsuki 17-26) are credited with special effects.
Motonari Ichikawa (Angel Beats!) is the 3D director, with Youichirou Satou (White Album 2) serving as director of photography. Yoshihide Mukai (Golden Time) is overseeing 2D design, and Ayumu Takahashi (Another) is editing the anime.
The music is being composed by Alisa Okehazama, whose credits include Jujutsu Kaisen. Ryousuke Naya (The Misfit of Demon King Academy) is the sound director, with Yasumasa Koyama (No Game No Life) handling sound effects. Studio Mausu is responsible for sound production, while Mitsuhito Tsuji, known for Ya Boy Kongming!, is the animation producer.
P.A. Works is bringing the second-life fantasy to television
Shuu Honma, director of Mayonaka Punch, is directing the series at P.A. Works. Youko Yonaiyama (A Sign of Affection) is writing the series composition, and Yuito Kiyosawa is designing the characters.
The official anime site has also introduced the principal cast. Daiki Yamashita voices Rain Garland, the enhancement-granting mage at the center of the story, while Lynn plays Lily Flamber. Yoshino Aoyama voices Margaret Els, with Miyu Tomita as Mirabelle, Megumi Han as Elsie Zola, and Konomi Kohara as Nina.
The cast also includes Nobuhiko Okamoto as Hanbun, Makoto Furukawa as Cornelius, and Rie Shibata as the character known as the Mother of Assassins. These characters reflect the broad mix of adventurers, guild figures, and dangerous personalities that shape Rain’s new life.
What is Cheat Fuyo about?
The series follows Rain, a mage whose specialty is applying “enhancement points” to weapons and armor. His abilities are more flexible than ordinary support magic, however: he can grant enhancements to virtually anything and remove their effects whenever he chooses.
After being expelled from his guild, Rain begins a second life as an adventurer. The setup gives the story a familiar fantasy starting point, but its central ability creates plenty of room for unusual applications of magic. The official site describes the work as a blend of adventure, battles, character drama, and comedy rather than a straightforward power-fantasy journey.
For longtime readers, the manga’s route to animation is also worth noting. Rokushima began publishing the original adventure fantasy story on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in January 2021. Youmochi Gyoumu launched the manga in Shounen Magazine R in October of that year before it moved to Kodansha’s Getsumaga Kichi web manga platform in March 2023.
Kodansha released the manga’s 21st volume on August 7. The light novel version, illustrated by kisui, began publication under the K Ranobe Book label in January 2022, with its second volume following in October of the same year. The official anime site currently states that the franchise has surpassed 1.4 million copies in circulation.
With the second teaser now available and the production team taking shape, the next major updates will likely focus on additional promotional material and the final broadcast details. Cheat Fuyo is scheduled for TV Tokyo in October 2026, so the series will have several more months to show how P.A. Works is translating its unusual enhancement magic into animation.
