McFarlane Toys is expanding its DC Multiverse Deluxe Theatrical Edition lineup with three new 7-inch movie figures: a battle-damaged Catwoman from Batman Returns, Robert Pattinson’s Batman from The Batman, and Commissioner Gordon as portrayed by Gary Oldman in The Dark Knight. Pre-orders are now live, making this one of the more interesting theatrical assortments for collectors building a movie-focused Gotham display.

The announcement is notable less for another Batman release than for the supporting characters surrounding him. Catwoman and Gordon represent two very different eras of live-action Batman history, while the Pattinson figure gives collectors another opportunity to complete a modern The Batman shelf without stepping outside McFarlane’s established 7-inch scale.

A Trio Built Around Three Distinct Gotham Eras

The battle-damaged Catwoman is based on Michelle Pfeiffer’s Selina Kyle from Tim Burton’s 1992 sequel, Batman Returns. The figure is identified as a Deluxe Theatrical Edition and is designed with McFarlane’s Ultra Articulation system, offering up to 22 points of movement. Her listed accessories include a bullwhip, taser, and display base, along with the standard collectible art card and character biography.

The battle-damaged treatment gives this release an immediate advantage over a straightforward reissue. Catwoman’s stitched costume and chaotic third-act appearance are among the most visually memorable designs in the Burton films, and the damaged detailing should help distinguish this figure from the earlier standard theatrical edition. That said, the official accessory listing does not mention an alternate head or additional hands, so collectors should not assume the package includes a second portrait representing Selina’s cracked mask or unmasked appearance.

Robert Pattinson’s Batman is drawn from The Batman, the 2022 film’s heavily armored, early-career interpretation of the character. McFarlane lists an extra head, grapnel, extra hands, and batarang among the accessories. Like the other releases in this group, the figure is described as a 7-inch-scale design with up to 22 moving parts.

While the Pattinson Batman has already appeared in the DC Multiverse line, this Deluxe Theatrical Edition should appeal to collectors who missed the earlier release or want a more complete version for display. The extra head and interchangeable hands give it a stronger presentation range than a strictly minimal figure, particularly for collectors who prefer to display Batman in a less static pose.

Completing the assortment is Commissioner Gordon from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. The figure includes a gun, handcuffs, extra hands, a dossier, and a display base. Gordon is the least overtly action-oriented character in the lineup, but his inclusion is arguably the most significant from a character-selection standpoint: McFarlane is continuing to treat major supporting players as legitimate display pieces rather than limiting theatrical releases to heroes and villains.

What the Accessory Load Says About Each Figure

Catwoman’s accessory selection is focused on recognizable character equipment rather than alternate display options. The whip and taser are appropriate choices for Selina, although the package appears relatively restrained for a figure marketed as a deluxe release. The lack of listed alternate hands may be especially noticeable for collectors who enjoy expressive, clawed poses or want to recreate the character’s more theatrical action scenes.

The Batman receives the most flexible loadout of the three. An alternate head, extra hands, grapnel, and batarang provide enough variation for both action poses and a more neutral display. The accessory selection is not extravagant, but it is better aligned with the character’s equipment-heavy screen presence.

Gordon’s package is more character-specific than flashy. The dossier is an especially welcome inclusion because it reinforces Gordon’s role as an investigator and police commander instead of presenting him as simply another suited figure with a firearm. The handcuffs and extra hands should also help create more natural law-enforcement poses.

Sculpt and Display Potential

McFarlane’s strongest recent movie figures have generally benefited from sharp costume sculpting and strong silhouette work, and these three characters offer plenty of material for that approach. Catwoman’s stitched suit should provide the most texture and visual contrast, while Pattinson’s Batman brings layered armor, a pronounced cowl, and a distinctive profile that should read well on a shelf.

Gordon presents a different challenge. A suited human character depends heavily on facial likeness, tailoring, and paint separation rather than dramatic armor or weaponry. At this scale, the quality of the portrait and the handling of the coat, tie, and police uniform will determine whether the figure works as a convincing movie likeness or merely fills a space beside the Dark Knight.

All three figures are designed for the same general 7-inch collector ecosystem, making them suitable for mixed displays within DC Multiverse. Gordon should sit comfortably alongside other Nolan-era releases, while the Catwoman figure can anchor a Batman Returns display with McFarlane’s existing Batman, Penguin, and Max Shreck offerings. The Pattinson Batman remains visually separate from those films, but that contrast is part of the appeal for collectors building a broader live-action Batman shelf.

Early Impressions and Collector Considerations

Public impressions of the earlier standard Batman Returns Catwoman release have been broadly favorable toward the sculpt, screen likeness, suit detailing, and overall shelf presence. Reviewers and buyers have also repeatedly pointed to the limited accessory count as the principal weakness. That feedback is worth keeping in mind here, particularly because the battle-damaged version’s appeal will depend heavily on how substantial the new paint and sculpted damage actually are.

The Pattinson Batman has a clearer value proposition on paper because the extra head and hands offer genuine display variation. Gordon’s value is more dependent on collector priorities: fans assembling a complete The Dark Knight cast will likely consider him essential, while Batman-only collectors may view him as a lower-priority purchase unless the likeness and tailoring are particularly strong.

Pricing and final release timing were not included in the supplied announcement details. Collectors should therefore check individual retailer listings before placing orders, since preorder availability and estimated arrival windows can vary between stores.

Collector verdict: The battle-damaged Catwoman is likely to attract the most attention from dedicated Burton-era collectors, while Commissioner Gordon is the key character addition for anyone building a complete Nolan display. Pattinson’s Batman is the most versatile option for posing and the safest choice for collectors who want a modern standalone Batman figure with a useful accessory package.
