Kyoto Animation’s Sparks of Tomorrow has paired its alternate-history adventure with two very different musical voices. Luna Goami performs the opening theme “Eureka Evrika,” while Southern California indie-pop project Ginger Root contributes the ending song “Soarin’.”

Both tracks were scheduled for worldwide digital release shortly after the anime’s July 5, 2026 premiere: “Eureka Evrika” arrived on July 6, followed by “Soarin’” on July 13. With the release dates now passed, both songs are available through major music streaming and download services.

The music announcement gives fans another reason to keep an eye on Kyoto Animation’s latest series, which is streaming globally as a Netflix exclusive. Set in an alternate version of early 20th-century Kyoto, Sparks of Tomorrow imagines a world where steam power has advanced dramatically while electricity remains an elusive dream.

A high-energy opening from Luna Goami

“Eureka Evrika” is performed and lyrically written by Luna Goami, with composition and arrangement by Hitomi Koto. Koto also provides the anime’s soundtrack, creating a musical link between the theme song and the series’ broader soundscape.

The track combines forceful percussion with sweeping strings, a fitting match for a story built around invention, ambition, and the possibility of a technological revolution. Goami has described the song as both vibrant and propulsive, shaped around the story’s tension between belief and doubt.

Goami’s work is especially suited to projects that demand an expressive or unconventional vocal style. Her credits include vocal and lyric contributions connected to titles such as The Apothecary Diaries, Mr. Osomatsu, and the drama Dearest, as well as stage productions including Demon Slayer and Shoujo YoRHa.

For longtime fans of Kyoto Animation, the bigger surprise may be how closely the song’s concept mirrors the series’ central ideas. “Eureka Evrika” is not simply positioned as a burst of opening-credits energy; its title and lyrics reflect a story about rediscovering possibility after grief and disappointment.

Ginger Root brings “Soarin’” to the ending credits

Ginger Root, the solo project of Cameron Lew, handles the ending theme with “Soarin’.” Lew wrote, composed, arranged, and produced the track himself, continuing the hands-on approach that has defined the project since its formation during his college years.

The song begins with a more melancholy atmosphere before moving into a stronger rhythmic groove. That progression echoes the emotional direction of Sparks of Tomorrow, where characters carrying loss and uncertainty gradually find the courage to move forward.

Lew has said the title came from the idea that flying may be impossible for ordinary people, but that reaching for seemingly impossible goals can still make the dream feel within reach. In that sense, “Soarin’” works as a natural companion to an anime centered on technological dreams and a future that has not yet been built.

Ginger Root is known for its distinctive blend of indie pop, soul, vintage textures, and carefully crafted visual presentation. Lew’s background as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, and visual artist has allowed him to oversee much of the project’s music, artwork, and videos himself. His releases include Mahjong Room, Rikki, and the Japan-inspired EP City Slicker.

The project has also built a particularly strong following in Japan. A four-show tour there sold out in January 2023, followed by a six-date Zepp tour supporting the album SHINBANGUMI. “Soarin’” now marks Ginger Root’s first official anime theme-song project.

What to know about Sparks of Tomorrow

The anime follows Kihachi Sakamoto, a boy fascinated by the idea of an “Age of Electricity,” and Inako Momokawa, a young woman living with the memory of her late mother. Their chance meeting draws them into the mystery of the 20th Century Electrical Catalog, a document that may hold the key to the future they both want to believe in.

Netflix lists the series as a Kyoto Animation production based on Hiro Yūki’s novel 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku. The confirmed staff includes director Minoru Ōta, series composer Tatsuhiko Urahata, character designer and chief animation director Kohei Okamura, world builder Takaaki Suzuki, and composer Hitomi Koto. Yuma Uchida voices Kihachi, while Sora Amamiya plays Inako.

With the opening and ending songs now available, listeners can experience both sides of the show’s musical identity: Goami’s dramatic, electrically charged introduction and Ginger Root’s warmer, forward-looking sendoff. Worth keeping an eye on next is how the complete versions of both tracks deepen the themes introduced by the anime’s opening and closing sequences.
