The Halloween & Costume Association has revealed the 24 finalists for the third annual Spooky Awards, and this year’s lineup should interest anyone who treats Halloween as a serious collecting season. The finalists span licensed costumes, display-worthy décor, masks, accessories, and high-concept wearable pieces, with entries ranging from a $25 Demon Slayer mask to a $1,199 Mandalorian costume built around a 47-piece ensemble.

For collectors, the appeal is less about picking up a conventional action figure and more about seeing how familiar characters, horror designs, and pop-culture properties are translated into larger-scale costume, prop, and display formats. The 2026 finalists also offer a snapshot of where the Halloween product market is moving: more licensed properties, more inflatable engineering, greater accessibility, and an increasing overlap between costume design and collectible-quality character presentation.

Eight Categories, 24 Finalists, and a Strong Licensed Presence

The HCA selected three finalists in each of eight categories: Accessories, Adult Costume, Child Costume, Licensed Costume, Most Unique Costume, Décor, Masks, and Most Innovative Product. Entries were evaluated according to innovation, marketability, trendsetting potential, appeal, and usefulness.

That judging formula favors products that are not only visually distinctive but also have a clear place in the commercial Halloween landscape. This is not strictly a craftsmanship award or a fan poll. The finalists are products expected to work for retailers, costume buyers, themed attractions, and consumers looking for something with immediate visual impact.

Disguise leads the field with finalists in six categories, while Ghoulish Productions appears in five. Ghoulish’s presence is particularly notable because the company’s handmade masks, accessories, and décor pieces occupy a space closer to professional haunt merchandise and specialty props than ordinary seasonal retail. Fourteen of the 24 finalists are tied to recognizable characters or brands, including Toy Story, Star Wars, Demon Slayer, The Little Mermaid, Masters of the Universe, Stranger Things, K-Pop Demon Hunters, and The Black Phone.

Anime, Sci-Fi, and Licensed Characters Take the Spotlight

Anime collectors will likely gravitate first toward Disguise’s Inosuke Boar Mask from Demon Slayer. Listed at $25, the molded mask features the character’s blue eyes, tusks, and fur detailing. It is not positioned as a premium prop replica, but it has obvious appeal as a display piece, cosplay component, or inexpensive accessory for fans building a larger Inosuke look.

Star Wars is represented in two very different ways. Jazwares’ Adult Darth Maul Official Zentai Suit uses a printed spandex bodysuit, detachable mask, invisible zippers, and wrist openings, offering a lightweight full-body approach to the character. At the opposite end of the spectrum is Jazwares’ Adult Men Primalux Costume based on The Mandalorian, which is the most elaborate and expensive finalist at a listed $1,199.

The Mandalorian costume includes 47 pieces, woven fabric, molded plastic armor, a bandolier belt, detachable cape, and adjustable helmet. Based on the available description, it is aimed less at casual Halloween wear and more at dedicated costume builders, serious cosplayers, and collectors who appreciate a complete character ensemble. It is also the clearest example of the Spooky Awards recognizing products that overlap with premium prop and costume collecting.

Rubies’ Masters of the Universe Movie 2026 Skeletor Deluxe Costume offers a more traditional retail approach, with a muscle-chest jumpsuit, attached shoe covers, arm guards, belt, hooded cape, and mask. Meanwhile, the Most Innovative Product category includes Disguise’s nine-piece Optimus Prime Converting Costume Child, which shifts between Optimus Prime and his semi-truck configuration. For collectors, the transformation concept is the standout feature, especially because it echoes the play pattern that made the character’s original action figures so enduring.

Inflatables Are Still Expanding Their Territory

Inflatable costumes continue to dominate the conversation around high-visibility Halloween products, and six finalists use inflatable construction in some form. Disguise’s Adult Buzz Inflatable Costume includes a clear attached helmet, while the company’s child-sized Bullseye Inflatable turns Toy Story’s horse into a ride-on costume with a sculpted saddle, mane, stirrups, and adjustable shoulder straps.

Disguise also brings the inflatable concept to Ursula, with the Prestige Ursula Costume for Women featuring attached black-and-purple tentacles. Rubies’ 8-foot Castle Grayskull Inflatable Yard Decor moves the format from wearable costume to large-scale outdoor display. With a fan, ropes, and stakes included, it is arguably the most directly collectible-friendly piece in the décor category for Masters of the Universe fans who want their fandom represented beyond a shelf.

Jazwares’ inflatable Oscar Mayer Wienermobile costume and Morphsuits’ Caught in a Trap Spider Costume round out the field. The Morphsuits design places eight inflatable spider legs behind the wearer, while the Oscar Mayer piece turns the iconic vehicle into a lightweight wearable novelty. These products are less about screen accuracy than instant recognition and crowd-pleasing silhouette design.

Handmade Horror and Display-Ready Décor

Ghoulish Productions supplies some of the strongest horror-focused entries. Its Skin Corset is sculpted to resemble stitched human flesh, complete with anguished faces, hands pushing outward, and heavy sutures. The $59 accessory has clear crossover appeal for horror collectors, haunted attraction performers, and customizers looking for a striking centerpiece rather than a generic costume add-on.

Ghoulish’s $200 Rusty the Clown bust is even closer to a collectible display object. The piece features red hair, blue eyeshadow, yellow fangs, and pale baby heads fused to the base, creating a deliberately grotesque presentation that should appeal to collectors of horror busts and practical-effects-inspired sculptures.

Morris Costumes’ Dr. Fangor Animated Spider Monster takes the décor category in a more mechanical direction. The animatronic combines human limbs with four moving spider legs, multiple eyes, a bloody shirt, and a severed head. It is not a static prop, and its appeal rests on motion, scale, and front-yard theatricality rather than fine-art presentation.

For collectors who prefer recognizable fantasy décor, Castle Grayskull is the more obvious choice. Its eight-foot scale gives it a major display presence, although the inflatable construction means it is best viewed as seasonal environmental décor rather than a permanent statue substitute.

Most Unique Costume and Accessory Highlights

The Most Unique Costume category is built around products designed to stop people in their tracks. Jazwares’ Adult Inflatable Wienermobile Costume is perhaps the most immediately recognizable, while Rubies’ Adult Pickles and Ice Cream Couples Costume offers a deliberately absurd two-person concept. Disguise’s Prestige Ursula Costume lands between novelty and character design, using the inflated tentacles to create a broad silhouette that should read clearly from across a room.

The Accessories finalists show a broader range of design priorities. Ellie Shoes’ four-inch closed-toe pump adds bat-wing ankle detailing in black, pink, and red. elope’s Kakamora Costume Companion gives Disney’s Moana fans a plush character satchel with an adjustable strap and rear zip pouch. Ghoulish’s Skin Corset is the most collector-oriented of the three, combining wearable functionality with sculpted horror design.

In the mask category, Rubies’ The Black Phone Grabber Interchangeable Half Mask includes two mouth pieces, allowing the wearer to change between a sharp-toothed smile and a closed grin. Ghoulish’s Big Horns Devil emphasizes exaggerated proportions, glowing red eyes, and hand-painted finish, while Disguise’s Inosuke mask provides the most direct connection to the anime figure and cosplay audience.

When and How Collectors Can Follow the Awards

The public Fan Vote opens October 1, 2026, and runs through October 15. Fan Vote finalists in each category are scheduled to be announced October 16, with the overall Fang Favorite to be revealed during the Spooky Awards ceremony on January 11, 2027.

The ceremony will take place at Mardi Gras World during the Halloween & Party Expo Welcome Reception in New Orleans. The trade show itself runs January 11–13 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and is intended for qualified Halloween retailers, manufacturers, and buyers.

Collector verdict: The 2026 finalists should appeal most to collectors who enjoy licensed costume design, horror props, cosplay accessories, and seasonal displays with a strong visual footprint. The Mandalorian Primalux suit is the obvious premium item, while Castle Grayskull, the Rusty the Clown bust, Inosuke’s mask, and the transforming Optimus Prime costume offer the clearest crossover appeal for action figure, anime, Masters of the Universe, and prop collectors. The full lineup also demonstrates that Halloween collecting is becoming increasingly connected to the wider hobby market, where character recognition, sculpted detail, transformation features, and display presence matter just as much as they do on a traditional collector shelf.
